The objective for this assignment was to redesign a book cover for a famous book. I chose The Outsider by Stephen King. The concept I was going for was a mystery man in he woods. I edited out his face with the clone stamp tool. The man was not in the right setting I wanted him to be in so I made a composite of him in a forest. In order to bring elements from the book to the cover. I wanted the cover to be set in twilight, so I corrected the color of the lightning.

I also recolored the jacket of the man in order to appear as though he was blending into his surroundings. I wanted to give the illusion that he had just done the crime. I wanted a grime effect to give the effect of fog or mist. So I found an image of metal online and I color balanced it to be blue. Then, I lowered the hardness, opacity, and widened the spread. I erased parts of it until it looked misty.

In addition to the book cover, we had to make a digital mockup as well. It was fairly easy to do on photoshop using actions.
